As the winds from Hurricane Sandy started to impact the area Monday morning, residents around Kramer Drive suffered minor power outages after a downed high tension wire resulted in a small brush fire on Paramus Road.

As the winds and rains started to come down in Paramus Monday afternoon the atmosphere around town was quiet for the county's retail hub.
Tuesday
Almost half of Paramus is without power this afternoon as PSE&G is reporting up to 10,000 residential power outages and full restoration could take several days as DPW staffing works to clear the many downed trees in town.

Hurricane Sandy ripped through the area taking out trees and power lines. Bergen Community College served as a Red Cross shelter and Garden State Plaza is a staging area for PSE&G crews.
Wednesday
Paramus Still Waits for Power to be Restored
Halloween postponed until Saturday, schools remained closed, candidates night canceled and most businesses and residential areas remain without power.
Residents from around Bergen County descended upon the Paramus mall to charge cell phones, eat and shop.

Cars backed up for miles on Route 17 in Paramus to fill up their tanks as the gas shortage in the area continues.

Paramus Residents Still Waiting for Power Restoration
Residents throughout the borough continue to be without power five days after Sandy struck Paramus. May take 7 to 10 days to get power restored to all customers, PSE&G reports.
Paramus Rescue Squad Halloween Party Now Postponed
The Paramus Rescue Squad annual Halloween party for borough children has been postponed completely at this time and will be rescheduled at a later date.
Paramus Schools Open Next Week
Paramus public schools will reopen Monday and plan to be open for the majority of the week.
