Businesses Prove Helpful Following Sandy's Aftermath
Paramus recently recognized several businesses for their assistance during Sandy's resulting poweroutages
It has been almost a month since Hurricane Sandy blew through Paramus knocking out power and disrupting the day-to-day routines for many in the borough.
Recently the Mayor and Council recognized four businesses which offered assistance to employees and residents without hesitation. The governing body issued proclamations of commendation to Gold's Gym, Exxon on Rt. 17 North, the Rt. 4 Panera and Westfield Garden State Plaza.
"This is a testiment to their commitment to the community," Mayor Richard LaBarbiera said. "It is one thing to do business and let the cash registers ring and another to be a part of the Paramus fabric."

As many were without power for close to 10 days, residents were invited to Gold's Gym for hot showers and a chance to exercise and to Garden State Plaza to charge their cell phones and other electronic devices.
During Hurricane Sandy and shortly thereafter, Panera provided food to borough employees who were kept busy for several days with a large number of fallen trees and limbs that blocked roadways.
