Mayor Rejects Council's Pick For Paramus Borough Admin: Report

The Democratic mayor in Paramus did not approve a Republican pick for borough administrator​, according to a report.

PARAMUS, NJ — The Democratic mayor in Paramus did not approve a Republican pick for borough administrator because he said the candidate search was not done properly, according to a report.

Mayor Richard LaBarbiera said there had not been a proper candidate search, NorthJersey.com reports, and alleged the pick had been made outside Borough Hall.

Hector Olmo was the council's pick, the report said.

The current borough administrator, Joseph D'Arco, begins serving as Verona's township manager next week, and Paramus is running out of time to fill the position.

Tensions have been simmering between LaBarbiera and Republican council members, the site reported.
