Men arrested on multiple firearms charges in Ridgefield

RIDGEFIELD, CT — Detectives arrested two Connecticut men in Ridgefield on multiple firearms charges Thursday, the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office said in a news release.

Angel Ramos-Ortiz, 24, and Jeffrey Torres, 23, were arrested Thursday, the prosecutor's office said.

Torres was charged with two counts of second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun, third-degree transporting of a ghost gun, fourth-degree possession of armor-piercing ammunition and fourth-degree resisting arrest by flight.

Ramos-Ortiz was charged with two counts of second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun, third-degree transporting a ghost gun and fourth-degree possession of armor piercing ammunition.

Both men are in Bergen County Jail pending a detention hearing scheduled for 9 a.m. on June 10, the prosecutor's office said.

Police searched the men's car and found two 9 mm handguns, one of which was a "ghost gun," and armor-piercing rounds, the prosecutor's office said. A ghost gun is a homemade firearm that lacks commercial serial numbers, the prosecutor's office said.
