Mosque, Biagio's May Return to Paramus Zoning Board This Week

Also the mayor and council will meet for its monthly work session this Tuesday.

More talks regarding the proposed mosque at a Paramus Road location may continue this week as the Muslim Cultural Center is scheduled to return to the Paramus Zoning Board of Adjustment this Thursday night.

The center is looking for approval to occupy a three-story office building, which was previously approved but not yet built, as Muslim cultural center and mosque.

If talks do continue this week it will pick up where it left off last November. Hearings had been scheduled since that time but were postponed.

From previous discussion parking was the biggest concern as Zoning Board members and homeowners on Arcadian Way and Mackay Avenue were concerned that overflow from the parking lot during high attendance events could impact their neighborhood. A total of 61 spaces are proposed while 69 are required by borough code.

Also this week

Biagio’s Restaurant is scheduled to return to the Board of Adjustment Thursday seeking approvals for amended plans for a project to build a 2-story banquet hall which is already under construction.  This hearing was first scheduled for June 13 but was postponed due to extreme weather conditions.

Patch will have the latest from the governing body which meets this Tuesday night for is monthly work session.
