Nick Suriano Named Grand Marshal Of Paramus Fourth Of July Parade

PARAMUS, NJ — Nick Suriano, the NCAA national wrestling champion, was named grand marshal of the Paramus Fourth of July parade.

"Your family, friends, the wrestling community, and your hometown is most proud of your success," Mayor Richard LaBarbiera said of Suriano.

Suriano, a Paramus native, made history in March when he won the 133-pound national wrestling championship for Rutgers University in March. It was the first national wrestling championship in Rutgers University history.

Suriano defeated No. 1 seed Daton Fix in overtime to win the title.

Suriano had one of the greatest high school careers in New Jersey history.

He earned four state championships at Bergen Catholic High School on his way to a perfect 159-0 record. He also helped Bergen Catholic win four team national championships.
