Paramus FD Responds to 2-Alarm Fire at Toys R Us

Paramus Fire Department dealt with and extinguished the fire in about 30 minutes in the early morning hours on Tuesday.

The Paramus Fire Department responded to a 2-Alarm fire at Toys R Us on Route 17 early Tuesday morning.

According to police, Paramus Fire was got word of the fire just after 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning and responded immediately. Once on the scene, firefighters discovered fire and heavy smoke in the second floor stockroom. The store’s automatic fire sprinklers kept the fire contained until firefighters responded.

Responding firefighters stretched several hose lines to the second floor and were able to extinguish the fire in approximately 30 minutes.

“The cause of the early morning fire is still under investigation by the Paramus Fire Prevention Unit and Paramus Police Detectives,” said Paramus Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg via a release. “Store employees were evacuated early in the incident and there were no reports of injuries.”

Members from all of Paramus’ Fire and Rescue stations responded as well as the Oradell Fire Department. Washington Township, Rochelle Park, Saddle Brook and Fairlawn Departments provided cover-up assistance to the remainder of Paramus. Fire units were on scene until 4:45 a.m. Tuesday.
