Paramus Filmmaker Earns Top Prize in Student Film Festival

Paramus High School graduate Shannen Siramarco won 'Best in the Fest' in the eighth annual Jersey Filmmakers of Tomorrow film festival for county high school students.

Shannen Siramarco, a recent Paramus High School graduate, won “Best in the Fest” award for her film “The Shadows” in the Jersey Filmmakers of Tomorrow Film Festival this month.

The eighth annual festival for high school students in Bergen County presented by the Fort Lee Film Commission was held at Media Mix Studios in Allendale on Nov. 10. Siramarco originally created the film for her video class at Paramus High School last year.

She won a $500 cash prize, 72 hours of post-production time in Sirk Productions Digital Studio in New York City, free entry of her film into the Garden State Film Festival. Her film will also be published on the festival’s website http://www.jerseyfilmmakersoftomorrow.org..

The “Best of the Fest” award also went to Jiho Kim and Eric Jung of Fort Lee High School who tied with Siramarco for the top prize, a first in the history of the contest according to Tom Meyers, executive director of the Fort Lee Film Commission.
