Paramus Public Schools Reopen Monday, Thousands Still Without Power

Power returned to some areas in Paramus Sunday but thousands reportedly still out.

All Paramus public schools will reopen on Monday including Memorial School which just regained power back on Sunday night.

Throughout the course of the weekend various areas reported that  power had been returned but thousands still remained without power Sunday night.

Mayor Richard LaBarbiera called PSE&G's reported repair plan to restore power to Paramus by Sunday night a "disapointment" Sunday evening in a statement on his Facebook page. He called the lack of production and restoration "inexcusable" and called on the company to restore power as soon as possible.

Later Sunday evening more power restoration was reported including Memorial School which is located on Midland Avenue and "large areas along Forest Avenue" according to LaBarbiera.

Some other schools in town remain closed due to problems associated with Hurricane Sandy aftermath.Paramus Catholic High School reports it will remain closed Monday, Nov. 5 due to "lack of school bus service for most areas and lack of gas for many to drive to school" as per its website. The school hopes to reopen on Nov. 6.

Bergen Community College reports it will resume all classes on Monday, Nov. 5.
