Paramus Schools Open Next Week

Schools will be open all week except for Tuesday, Election Day.

Paramus public schools will reopen Monday and plan to be open for the majority of the week.

Mayor Richard LaBarbiera has reported that schools will now open every day next week except Tuesday, Election Day.

The Paramus Board of Education decided last month to close schools on Election Day as a safety precaution for students as a high turnout is expected at polling places, some of which are borough schools, for this Presidential election.

As of Friday, Memorial School remained without power. "Only variable is memorial which still does not have power and if they relocate," the mayor wrote on his Facebook page Friday afternoon.

Schools were to be closed on Thurday and Friday next week due to the NJEA convention however it was announced Nov. 1 the convention, which was to be held in Atlantic City, was cancelled. Now the school district has chosen to open the school on those two days.

Paramus public schools were closed all week due to the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy which took down trees and power lines all over the borough leaving a majority of the borough without power. Other school districts in the area were also closed all week. Paramus Catholic High School remained closed as did Bergen Community College.
