Paramus Still Waits for Power to be Restored
Halloween postponed until Saturday, schools remained closed, candidates night canceled and most businesses and residential areas remain without power.
Power is still out in most areas, clean up around town is ongoing while Paramus slowly begins to pick up the pieces after Hurricane Sandy.
Residents in areas all around town still wait to hear about power restoration. The majority of shops and eateries along Routes 17 and 4 remained empty on Wednesday as most areas along the major highways still have no power.
Halloween was cancelled for Wednesday and a mandatory curfew has been set for minors and pedestrians from dusk until dawn reports Mayor Richard LaBarbiera via Facebook Wednesday night.

LaBarbiera says crews will continue to clean up through the weekend. Garbage and recyclying schedules will resume on Thursday and brush and debris can be brought to the curb.

Paramus public schools remain closed on Thurday and Friday. The high school cafeteria will be made availalbe as a wi-fi access and battery charging station from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. according to the mayor.
While driving through town Wednesday several traffic lights were out in several areas around town due to the power outages. Cars were struggling to get through major instersections where there was no working light such as Passaic Avenue at the border of Rochelle Park and the Garden State Plaza entrance.
While Garden State Plaza was jam packed with cars looking to shop, eat or recharge at the mall Wednesday other shops and eateries along the highways remained closed due to no power.
Gasoline is in high demand all over the north Jersey area as most places are shut down to the power outages or have sold out of gas due to the high demand. There was an almost hour long wait at the Hess station on Route 17 south early Wednesday, according to NJ.com.
PSE&G reports that a specific time for when time will be restored may not be known "until a full assessment of the damage is done" according to its website. Hurricane Sandy has caused "unprecedented damage, twice as much as Hurricane Irene" the site states.
