Paramus Students Honored for Musical, Academic Achievements

Six Middle School students have been accepted into the Bergen County band or chorus and 11 high school students were named National Merit Scholars.

Paramus school district recognized a number of its students for recent academic and musical achievements during the Board of Education meeting Monday.

Superintendent Kenneth Rota and Board of Education President Anthony Feorenzo Jr. gave out certificates to middle school students who were recently named to the Bergen County Middle School Chorus or Band.

Rota commented that this was quite an achievement as the students auditioned against at least a hundred others from around the county.

From West Brook Middle School, Sarah Friedman, soprano, made county middle school chorus; Adam Romano, first snare drum and Yoon Hyuk Chung, clarinet II made the county middle school band. Lisa Ahrendt, director of bands, and Rebecca Dugan, director of chorus were also recognized.

From East Brook Middle School, Rachel Nichols, alto, made county middle school chorus; Paulie Cho, clarinet and Andrea Bacich, trombone, made county middle school band. Michael Wall, director of bands and Greg Nalesnik, director of chorus were also recognized.

The following Paramus High School students were recognized for their recent National Merit Scholarship achievement: Yoonsik Shane Chung, Carly Huff, Christine Idouchi, Ashley Magalhaes, Pavan Mahtani, Tracy Shao, Soham Shukla, Joshua Song, Rushil Surapaneni, Edmond Wu and Sharon Yang.

Rota congratulated the students for this academic achievement pointing out that these students made into the top 5 percent in the nation to get this recognition.
