Parkway Pursuit: Newark Men In Stolen Car Arrested After Chase

Two Newark men face charges after allegedly leading police on high speed pursuit on the Garden State Parkway in a stolen car Friday morning.

PARAMUS, NJ – Two Newark men face charges after allegedly leading police on high speed pursuit on the Garden State Parkway in a stolen car early Friday morning.

Tyquan Boulaware, 19, and Tazwell Henry, 28, were arrested after their vehicle crashed near Exit 147 in East Orange and taken to Bergen County Jail, Paramus Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg said.

The chase began shortly before 3 a.m. in Paramus, where Officer William Stallone spotted a Nissan sport utility vehicle speeding down Route 17 south by Linwood Avenue, the chief said.

He also observed the vehicle’s two occupants were wearing ski masks and attempted to pull the car over, Ehrenberg said. However, the Nissan sped up and continued south on the highway and then onto the Garden State Parkway, the chief said.

When the vehicle’s driver, Boulaware, tried to escape off the Parkway into East Orange, the car crashed. He attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by Officer Michael Mordaga, Ehrenberg said.

Tazwell tried to hide after the crash, but was captured by Stallone and Officer Timothy Reed, the chief said.

The men were charged for possession of a vehicle reported stolen from Elizabeth and eluding police, the chief said.

Paramus officers were assisted by police from Clifton and East Orange, as well as New Jersey State troopers, Ehrenberg said.
