How do you know the star student athlete?
I am his mother.
What sport does the star student athlete play?
Football, baseball and basketball
Why do you believe the star student athlete should be recognized?
He made the Paramus football all-star team on his own merit. It was a struggle for him throughout the years in any sport — not because he was not a good athlete but because he was not in any particular clique. In football, he played defense against bigger guys and brought the ball closer to the end zone. But he was not given the opportunity to score a touchdown when he was younger.
He continues to play football with heart. No matter what the score is, he fights for his brothers on the team and never gives up. He supports his teammates, and respects his coaches and referees on the field year after year.
In baseball, he was a good pitcher and third baseman, and he was shunned out of the A team for no reason. He was able to help send the B team to the playoffs and post an incredible winning record. In basketball, he was never point guard but was just used for defense.
With all the adversity that he had to fight through over the years, he always played his best and never gave up. It ultimately made him a better player.
I'm his mom, but I fought this fight with I'm and watched him grow. I am glad that no one broke him and turned him away from sports. Throughout all of this, he has consistently been a high honors student and respectful of teachers and classmates.
I felt this recognition was what he deserves after all that he went through. He is determined and plans to go to a Division 1 school, and he would love to one day get the Heisman Trophy.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star student athlete?
He is a fighter and never gives up.
Keep up the great work, Tyler!
