PHS German Exchange Students Leave with Smiles
Twenty German exchange students spent two weeks with host families in Paramus.
Twenty students and two teachers from Karlsruhe, Germany came to Paramus as part of an exchange program through Paramus High School on Oct. 17.
The students, teachers and host families joined together for a Farewell Potluck Dinner on Oct. 29 in the high school cafeteria.
“The atmosphere was lively as the parents, students, siblings and teachers shared their experiences as well as the variety of favorite dishes and deserts brought by the families,” said Daura Schucker of Paramus High School.

Paramus H.S. World Languages supervisor Louis Natalo, German Teachers Kim Lauzon and Claudia Malik attended and were honored by a visit from Paramus Mayor Rich LaBarbiera.
Vocal teacher Stephanie Rawlings paid a surprise visit with the Prem1ers (PHS select chorus), to sing - “auf Wiedersehen” – “good-bye” in German. Each exchange student received a “Paramus Spartans” Tshirt, and a photo with their host sibling, as a gift. Parents and students alike signed a guestbook – with many glowing comments and words.
