Two Paramus Homes Ransacked, Police Say
Paramus Police are asking anyone with any information on the reported burglaries to contact the police department.

Two borough families' homes were burglarized last week, Paramus Police said Monday.
Police investigated a report of a break-in last Wednesday on Mackay Avenue, which they believed occurred between 10 and 11:20 a.m., while the house was unoccupied, reported Lt. John Scully.
Entry was gained through a basement window. Jewelry was taken along with a laptop, said police.

A second break-in took place on the evening of Feb. 2 on Sycamore Street where the front door of the home was forced in, police said.
Several bedrooms were ransacked and unknown amount of jewelry was removed, said police. No one was home at the time of the burglary, Scully said. Specific value of items was not given.

Police are not certain if the two incidents are related at this time, said Scully.
"Something like this hasn't happened around here in a long time," a Mackay Avenue resident said as she and fellow neighbors stood watching nearby as investigators processed the scene last Wednesday.
Scully advises residents to lock their doors and activate alarm systems even if leaving the home for a short period of time. He asks that anyone who sees any type of suspicious activity to contact the police department. Anyone with information regarding these burglaries is asked to contact police at 201-262-3400 ext. 553.
