Mall Security Guard Bitten by Alleged Shoplifter During Scuffle, Police Say
Paterson woman was charged with robbery, assault and possession of stolen property, according to Paramus police.

A Paterson woman was arrested on assault and robbery charges after a scuffle with mall security officers, in which she allegedly bit a guard who was trying to restrain her at Garden State Plaza, according to Paramus Police.
Police say Daisy Rodriguez, 56, of Paterson was charged with robbery, possession of stolen property and assault last Friday after an attempt to flee from a mall security officer and a loss prevention officer from Abercrombie and Fitch.
Police say Rodriguez had nearly $1,000 worth of stolen goods from various retailers. The loss prevention officer reported that she had been bitten several times by the suspect while trying to apprehend her, according to the report. The loss prevention officer refused medical attention at the scene.

Police say Rodriguez continued to resist arrest but was eventually handcuffed by Paramus Police Officer Keith Bland.
Rodriguez was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail pending court appearance.
