Sandy Forces Holiday Lighting Relocation
With the loss of two evergreen trees at Petruska Park, this year's holiday tree lighting and winter carnival will now be held at Borough Hall
The aftermath of Hurricane Sandy has struck again as the Nov. 28 Holiday Tree Lighting and Winter Carnival has been relocated from Petruska Park to Borough Hall due to the loss of a pair of evergreen trees.
"The two main treees at Petruska are gone following Hurricane Sandy," Mayor Richard LaBarbiera said. "This is a tremendous opportunity to take what we started at Petruska and make it even better."
The annual tree and menorah lighting ceremonies have historically been held in the borough park, with last year adding the winter carnival in the roller rink with rides, treats and games.
