Three Spartans Named to Bergen's All-County Teams
Matt Alpher, Darius House and Michael Mimmo received the honor of being named among the best footballers in Bergen County.

Members of the Bergen County Coaches Association voted last week and chose the All-County football teams. Three players from the Paramus High School Spartans football team were selected.
Michael Mimmo (Junior, Wider Receiver) – All Bergen County – Second Team offense
Mimmo appeared to be one of the heart and soul players on the Spartans team that advanced further in competition than any other in school history. In his junior year Mimmo hauled in 36 passes for 709 yards and 10 touchdowns as a receiver.

House was an all-around stud for the Spartans in 2013 by making contributions on offense, defense and special teams.

In fact, the Spartans magical season was almost squelched before it even got started. The Spartans trailed 33-21 in the fourth quarter of their home opener against Lakeland. Lakeland was driving and things were looking bleak. House stepped in front of a pass and returned it for a touchdown, giving the Spartans new life. Without plays like that, an appearance at MetLife stadium would have been out of the question.
Matt Alpher (Senior, Kicker) All Bergen County – Second Team Defense
It’s not often that you can truly state that a kicker is a real weapon for a football team, but in the case of Alpher, it was true all season long. Alpher kicked game winning field goals for the Spartans in September, October and November.
“I ‘explative’ love that kid,” Spartans quarterback Tyler Smith said of the clutch kicker. Dan Sabella also took time after the Spartans’ defeat of Old Tappan to say that Alpher was a weapon in the arsenal and not liability, which many high school kickers are viewed as.
Congratulations are in order for the three Spartans that made all-county teams and for the entire team on the best season in school history.
