West Brook Students Took the Polar Plunge to Help Special Olympics

Four Paramus middle school students took part in the Polar Bear Plunge last month to raise money for Special Olympics.

West Brook Middle School's very own Robert Carmichael, Chris Gass, Ryan Schatz, and Matthew Taraboochia  braved the cold and icy Atlantic Ocean last month to take part in the Polar Bear Plunge, raising money for the New Jersey Special Olympics.

The school reports that the students were among 5,000 other participants who took part in this challenge. Adding to the fun the four students took on a Sponge Bob Square Pants theme wearing costumes of the characters on the show.

West Brook Middle School reports that the students wanted to begin volunteering in the community. After much consideration the students chose the Special Olympics as it offers sports training to those with disabilities.
