Young Paramus Artist Earns Scholarship

Charlotte DeMartino is a fourth grade student at Stony Lane Elementary School in Paramus.

Well-rounded young artist Charlotte DeMartino has been given the Mary Ann Kinoian Memorial Scholarship Fund Award for achievement and dedication in art.

The fourth grader at Stony Lane Elementary School is a member of the school's art club, plays violin in the school orchestra and dances ballet at Miss Patti's School of Dance in Midland Park, reports her mom Marie.

Charlotte was nominated by her teacher Mrs. Williams who said, “she comes to my class every week and puts in 100% effort and thought into her artwork. She listens and absorbs the lesson and then transfers what she has learned into her work in her own personal way. Every year when I am asked to recommend a student for this award I think carefully about selecting a student who not only sets a good example in class, but who also shows a true love for the visual arts and perhaps will want to pursue it in the future.”

The scholarship was established to encourage young children in their love of fine arts and music. It was established by Dr. Robert Kinoian and named for his late wife Mary Ann Kinoian who passed away in September 2000 after a 10-year battle with breast cancer.

Their daughter Lucine presented the award to Charlotte during the spring concert at the school last Thursday.
