1 Cat Dead, 2 Firefighters Hurt In Parsippany House Blaze: Cops

Homeowner was away when kitchen caught on fire Easter Sunday, police said.

PARSIPPANY, N.J. – An Easter Sunday house fire claimed the life of a family pet and sent two firefighters to the hospital, Parsippany police said.

At 11:08 a.m. police and fire personnel responded to a structure fire at 2 Stratford Way where they were advised by the homeowner he had just come home and found the kitchen was on fire, police said.

The homeowner also told police no one was home at the time, but his cat was still inside. Members of the Mount Tabor, Rainbow Lakes, and Lake Parsippany fire departments were able to knock down the blaze and the cat was found dead inside, police said.

Two firefighters were taken to Morristown Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

The incident is still under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact Officer Cavaliere at 973-263-4300.
