1 Dead In Fatal Head-On Crash In Morris County

A passenger was killed and both drivers were injured in a late-night crash on Tuesday, according to police.

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — One person was killed and two others were injured in a fatal head-on crash in Morris County on Tuesday evening.

The crash occurred on the northbound side of Route 23 in Riverdale around 11 p.m., near the exits for Interstate 287, according to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.

Police reported that two vehicles—a 2005 Toyota Camry and a 2021 Ford F-150—were involved in a head-on collision.

A passenger in the Toyota Camry was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the car was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Ford was first taken to Riverdale Police headquarters before being moved to Chilton Hospital for care. Authorities confirmed that there were no passengers in the Ford at the time of the crash.

A spokesperson for the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that the passenger has been identified, but no further details about how the crash occurred will be released, emphasizing that the investigation is still ongoing.
