Police say the owner was able to scare off the would-be burglars, and now they're looking for information.

PARSIPPANY, NJ — A would-be car burglar was thwarted in Parsippany when the car's owner locked the car doors from a distance, Parsippany police said.

The attempted burglary happened on Bridgeton Drive around 1:20 a.m. Police say the car's owner woke up when she heard the car alarm going off. When she looked outside to check, the woman saw a man yanking on the car handle trying to get into the car.

"She quickly clicked her lock button which made the vehicle chirp twice," police said, which scared off the man.
