Biker Records 140-MPH Chase With Cops, Posts To YouTube, Gets Arrested
Police tried stopping motorcyclist for popping a wheelie, ends up being charged four months later.

PEQUANNOCK, N.J. – A 20-year-old Haskell man who rode his motorcycle through Pequannock at speeds reaching 140-miles-per-hour in December was arrested Wednesday after his video recording of the chase was posted to YouTube.
On Dec. 10 at 3:11 p.m., Officer James Dericks observed a motorcycle riding on its back wheel on Route 23 North, Capt. Christopher DePuyt said.
Dericks attempted to initiate the stop, but the motorist sped up and proceeded to elude the officer at a high rate of speed, DePuyt said.

The motorcyclist can be seen in the video passing several patrol cars with their lights flashing, weaving in and out of traffic, and at one point squeezing between a pickup truck and a guardrail on a Route 287 onramp.
The video shows the motorcyclist hitting speeds of up to 140 miles per hour.

Over the course of several months, DePuyt said, police were contacted by members of the public through social media and were told about a helmet-camera video posted to YouTube of the chase.
Through an investigation, detectives were able to obtain a search warrant for the suspect, later identified as Anthony Darrigo, 20, of Haskell. Darrigo was arrested Wednesday, April 6 and was charged with eluding police with risk of severe bodily injury; eluding police; and resisting arrest.
Darrigo’s motorcycle, helmet, jacket, helmet-mounted camera, laptop computer, and cell phone were all seized as evidence.
Darrigo was released on his own recognizance.
