Cat Stuck In Couch Rescued By Parsippany Police

We've all heard of a cat stuck in a tree, but this cat changed the script when it got stuck inside of a couch.

PARSIPPANY, NJ — First responders saving a cat from a tree is something we've all heard of, but one Parsippany cat changed the story this week when it needed to be rescued from inside of a couch.

The cat's tail became stuck inside of the reclining mechanism of his owner's couch on Tuesday, Patrolman Brian Conover told Patch. Patrol Sergeant M. Kimble, Patrol Officer J Seeger, and S. Kurza went to the home and, with the owner's permission, began disassembling the couch to free the cat.

Police soon realized they would need bolt cutters to help, and Patrol Sergeant R. Cooper brought the tool, Conover said. That still wasn't enough though, and the Parsippany Rescue and Recovery was called to provide the necessary tools.

Eventually the couch was taken apart and the cat was freed. Emergency medical services were called for minor cuts the resident sustained while trying to console the cat, but he refused medical attention Conover said. The cat was brought to a veterinary clinic to be examined.
