Jewelry Theft, Drunk Driving: Parsippany Police Blotter

PARSIPPANY, NJ — Parsippany police made several arrests and conducted investigations between Sept. 7 and Sept. 10, including for drunk driving and burglaries. Read more about them here, as written by police:

9/7/18 at 4:19 PM, Area of Route 46 and North Beverwyck Road Intersection: Patrol Officer D. Ross was patrolling the above area when he observed the driver of a 2006 Jeep Commander using a cellphone. After conducting a motor vehicle stop, he approached the vehicle from the passenger side and detected the odor of marijuana coming from the interior. The driver, Anthony Venacio, a 25 year old male from Paterson, NJ, was advised of the reason for the stop and that the odor of marijuana was detected. After a brief investigation, Mr. Venacio was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana. He was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for processing. While there he was charged with the following:

  • Possession of Less than 50 Grams of Marijuana, a Disorderly Persons Offense
  • Possession of CDS in a Motor Vehicle (Traffic Offense)
  • Use of a Cellphone While Driving (Traffic Offense)

He was released on his own recognizance pending his court date.

9/7/18 at 11:31 PM, Parking Lot of 745 Route 46- Harbor Freight: Officers responded to the parking lot of the above business for a reported vehicle that appeared to have been involved in a crash. Upon arrival of Patrol Officer S. Kurza, he observed a 2007 Dodge Durango in the parking lot with heavy front and side damage, both passenger side tires missing, and debris lodged throughout the undercarriage of the vehicle. He then spoke to Andrew Butz, a 52 year old male from East Hanover, NJ. He advised the officer that he had pulled into the parking lot due to car trouble. After a brief investigation Mr. Butz was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated and transported to police headquarters. While there he was charged with the following:

  • Driving While Intoxicated
  • Reckless Driving
  • Failure to Observe Traffic Lanes
  • Improper Use of Divided Highway
  • Wrong Way on a One Way Street

He was released on his own recognizance pending his court date.

9/8/18 at 1:16 AM, Intersection of North Beverwyck Road and Route 46: Patrol Officers M. Kardos and K. Hawthorne responded to the area of Route 46 and North Beverwyck Road for a motor vehicle crash. After a brief investigation it was determined a 2016 Porsche Carrera driven by Dina Segro-Nogueira, a 46 year old female from Montville, NJ, crashed into the rear of a 2008 Toyota Prius which was stopped in the left turn lane on Route 46 East. Ms. Segro-Nogueira was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated and transported to police headquarters for processing. While there she was charged with the following:

  • Driving While Intoxicated
  • Careless Driving

She was released on her own recognizance pending her court date.

9/10/18 at 10:46 AM, Woodcrest Road: Patrol Officer G. Cacioppo responded to a residence on Woodcrest Road for a reported burglary to a 2018 Mercedes Benz E-Class. Upon his arrival the victim advised him that between 10:30 AM on 9/9 and 12:58 AM on 9/10 an unknown suspect(s) entered their vehicle and stole a purse, along with its contents, which was valued at approximately $4000.00. The vehicle was believed to have been unlocked while it was parked. This incident remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact the Parsippany Police Department’s Investigative Division at 973-263-4311.

9/10/18 at 8:41 PM, Fernwood Place: Officers responded to a residence on Fernwood Place on a reported burglary. Upon their arrival they spoke to the victim who advised the officers that she arrived home and entered the residence through the garage. She then observed that the front door had been forced open and called 911. After a brief investigation it was determined that the burglary occurred between 9:00 AM and 8:38 PM on 9/10/18. The victim advised that currency and jewelry were stolen from the residence.

Parsippany Police Detectives, along with the Morris County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigations responded to the scene to assist in the investigation.
