PEQUANNOCK, NJ — A worker has been rescued after being trapped when a trench collapsed in Pequannock, reports say.

The man became trapped up to his waist outside of the Knights of Columbus hall Monday morning, News 12 NJ reported. He was freed just before noon, after spending about four hours in the trench.

It's not clear if the man was injured, but medics at the scene were aware of the possibility of "crush syndrome," which can include kidney failure, the Daily Record reported.
