NJ Trims 5 States From COVID-19 Travel Quarantine List
New Jersey updated its travel advisory list, dropping five states and adding the territory of Guam

NEW JERSEY—Gov. Phil Murphy on Tuesday updated the quarantine travel advisory list, removing five states but adding the territory of Guam. A total of 31 states and two territories are now included in the advisory, which demands travelers quarantine for two weeks after returning.
"It is critically important for anyone arriving to New Jersey from these 31 states and territories to get tested for COVID-19 and self-quarantine for 14 days,” he said.
Alaska, Arizona, Delaware, Maryland, and Montana have been removed from the list. Murphy said the U.S. territory of Guam was the only addition on Tuesday.

Those traveling south will no longer have to find a circuitous route in order to comply with the quarantine advisory, since Delaware and Maryland have been removed from the list. Moreover, traveling anywhere in the western part of the U.S. will be difficult without having to isolate upon return (see list of states below).
The travel advisory is issued for states with a positive test rate higher than 10 per 100,000 residents or a state with a 10 percent or higher positive rate over a 7-day rolling average.

Anyone returning from the designated states should self-quarantine at their home, hotel or other temporary lodging, Murphy said, and only leave for medical care or essential items.
New Jersey reported 190,021, total coronavirus cases and 14,124 confirmed deaths since the pandemic began. The state reported 346 new cases and five deaths on Tuesday.
Murphy, who has resisted calls to reopen gyms, theaters and indoor dining, cautioned against surrendering the progress that has been made in fighting the virus over the past few months.
“As we continue to confront the challenge that this crisis poses," the governor said, "we must ensure we remain vigilant and practice personal responsibility to protect our steady progress.”
