Odin, NJ Dog With Larger Than Life Bucket List, Passes Away

The four-year-old St. Bernard checked off a wide variety of bucket list items before his cancer became too painful to bear.

SUSSEX, NJ — Odin, a beloved St. Bernard dog from Sussex who went viral for his bucket list, died after a four-month battle with cancer, his owner announced. He was 4-years-old.

"I just want to say thank you for all your love and support. Odin has crossed the rainbow bridge and he is no longer suffering," his owner, Bobbie Jo Ledford, shared on the pup's Facebook page. "We are so deeply heartbroken and we would love to continue our site. Thank you so much."

Odin was diagnosed with osteosarcoma earlier this summer and given only a few months left to live. Ledford created a Facebook group, Odin's Bucket List, to chronicle the pup's last adventures. Sadly, he became too sick to continue, and was euthanized this week.

Odin had a rich life in his final months, achieving many of the items on his bucket list. Some of the end-of-life treats included getting an extra-large pizza with his name on it, meeting a police officer, staying at a hotel, going on a cruise, meeting Hooters girls, and getting a "puppichino" at Starbucks.

His story resonated with people around the country. Odin was featured in national newspapers and television segments and the Facebook group dedicated to him gained over 7,000 followers. His final adventure, a skydiving trip, was repurposed as a memorial service after he was put down.
