Ongoing Parsippany Sock Drive Helps Keep Morris Neighbors Warm

The Parsippany Library partnered with Boonton-based Brandon's Heart and Sole to provide socks to those in need this winter season.

PARSIPPANY, NJ — There is still time to donate to the Parsippany Library's sock drive, in partnership with a local charity, to help those in need stay warm over the winter.

The library will be collecting new pairs of socks for Brandon's Heart and Sole through the end of February, they said in a Facebook post. The organization collects new men's, women's, and children's socks.

And, some of the donated socks have already been sent out: Brandon's Heart and Sole shared close to 300 pairs of socks with Family Promise of Morris County on Wednesday. The nonprofit, started in memory of Boonton resident Brandon Lastfogel, is dedicated to providing socks to unhoused people, and others in need.

Lastfogel died in 2018 at the age of 30, after his motorcycle hit a deer on Route 80 and he was struck by a passing driver.

The group has donated more than 50,000 pairs of socks, including 1,200 sent to Ukraine, according to the website.
