Parsippany Man Charged with Robbing Ice Cream Parlor

In addition to the armed robbery, officers on the scene also observed damage to multiple ice cream topping canisters, according to police.

PARSIPPANY, NEW JERSEY — A Parsippany man was arrested following reports of an armed robbery at Dairy at Lake Hiawatha located at 79 N. Beverwyck Road, according to Parsippany Police.

Parsippany Police said they received a 911 call on July 29 at 10:39 p.m. The caller described a heavy-set Indian man wearing a brown and yellow shirt with rolled-up jeans, according to police. The man allegedly entered the store and demanded money while holding a knife, police said.

Four employees fled from behind the counter and hid in the restroom where one of them called 911, according to police.

Officers on the scene also reported observing damage to multiple ice cream topping canisters pushed off of ice cream coolers and onto the ground by the suspect, according to police.

After searching the area, police allegedly found Arjuna Ganesan, 44, of Parsippany, crouching down in the doorway in the alley past 77 N. Beverwyck Road. Ganesan’s clothing allegedly matched the description given by the victims.

Arjuna Ganesan, 44, was charged with first degree robbery, three counts of unlawful possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, theft of movable property and criminal mischief.

Ganesan’s bail was set at $20,000. He was transported to the Morris County Jail in default of his bail, according to police.
