Rockaway Township Mayor Dies At 58
Rockaway Township Mayor Michael Dachisen died suddenly Wednesday night at the age of 58.

ROCKAWAY, NJ — Rockaway Township Mayor Michael Dachisen died of a heart attack Wednesday night. He was 58.
Township attorney John Iaciofano told the Daily Record that Dachisen went to the doctor Wednesday afternoon for an EKG after experiencing some symptoms, but was sent home. He died several hours later at St. Clare's Hospital in Dover.
Dachisen was appointed mayor in Rockaway in 2012 when the previous mayor stepped down. He was elected to the rest of the term in a special election, and served through his death. He was expected to run for reelection next year, the Daily Record reported.

"The council and I extend our heartfelt condolences to Cathy, his wife, and to their children, and to Mayor Dachisen's parents as well," Councilman and acting mayor Jeremy Jedynak said in a statement, announcing that flags will be flown at half staff in the township on Thursday.
"At this time, we ask for your prayers especially for Mayor Dachisen’s loved ones that they have strength and comfort during this difficult time. We thank Mayor Dachisen’s family for his years of service to Rockaway Township," Jedynak said.
