WATCH: Dozens of Cars Destroyed by Fire On Route 46

Police investigating what started blaze at auction lot in Fairfield, report says.


Nearly 20 vehicles caught fire early Thursday morning at an auction lot on Route 46 in Fairfield, causing firefighters to spend some two hours extinguishing the blazes.

The fires were reported by Skyline Auto Auction’s security guard around 5:30 a.m., nj.com said, and Fairfield firefighters were still working on the scene around 7:30 a.m.

The blaze did not spread to the entire property, fortunately, as the lot contains “thousands of cars,” the report said.

The lot was not open at the time.
