Carol A. Clancy, Longtime Educator, Dies At 77

Services will be held on Friday and Saturday for the Point Pleasant resident.

Carol A. Clancy of Point Pleasant, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on February 8, 2017, at her home. She was 77.

She was born and raised in Elizabeth, NJ and lived in Cranford. She spent her summers enjoying her favorite place "the beach" at the Jersey Shore with her family and friends, before moving to Point Pleasant full time in 1998.

She worked as a teacher for Elizabeth and Cranford school systems, and spent the latter years of her career dedicated to the Special Needs Assessment Program for Preschool Youngsters (SNAPPY) in Cranford. She was a member of the Bay Head Shores Property Association where she served as a club officer, trustee and was in the ladies auxiliary and fishing club.

Carol was predeceased by her husband Frank H. Clancy, and her parents Eugene "Doc" and Peggy Leahy. She is survived by her sons Dan Clancy and his wife Kim of Brooklyn, NY, and Chris Clancy of Point Pleasant; her brother Eugene "Doc" Leahy Jr., her two grandchildren Zoe and Ian Clancy and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive relatives and friends for a memorial gathering from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Highway 88, Brick, NJ 08724. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Peter's RC Church, Point Pleasant Beach, NJ.
