'Do Not Drive Thru Water': Point Pleasant Roads Flooded, Police Say

POINT PLEASANT, NJ — Point Pleasant police are urging people to be cautious while driving around the borough Wednesday morning due to the effects of Tuesday night's storm.

"Flooding is continuing," police said in an alert about 11 a.m. "Please DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE THRU WATER."

"Turn Around Don't Drown! If you do drive thru water it's a NO WAKE zone," the alert said.

In addition to flooding there is debris on a number of roads in Point Pleasant.

Flooding is affecting much of Bay Head as well. The Ocean County Sheriff's Office shared photos of flooding in the borough and said many streets in that borough are closed, including Bridge Avenue. "Plan alternate routes today," the sheriff's office said.

Backbay areas will continue to see flooding as water from high tide ebbs out. High tide at the north bridge of the Point Pleasant Canal was at 9:01 a.m. and the water level reached 5.58 feet, according to TidesChart.com.

The National Weather Service reported 2.89 inches of rain were recorded in Point Pleasant.
