UPDATE: Donations Continue To Pour In For Family Of Borough Man Who Died In Construction Accident

Peter J. Martorana's death has affected many in town.

POINT PLEASANT, NJ - Friends, family and even strangers have not forgotten Peter J. Martorana, the young husband and father of three who died in a construction accident earlier this week.

The original GoFundMe goal of $30,000 was quickly surpassed, two days after the page was established. A new goal of $50,000 was set, which has also been eclipsed.

Now the new goal is $100,000. As of Sunday night, $57,678 has been raised by 579 people in just four days, according to the GoFundMe site set up for his family.

Martorana was killed in a construction accident on Wednesday, when he fell 30 feet from the roof of a school under construction in Franklin Township.

Peter left behind his wife, Katherine and three children, Benjamin, 8, Grace, 5, and Maxwell, 2, along with a host of grieving family members and friends, the GoFundMe page said.

Peter's whole world was his three children, his wife wrote on the page.

"He adored them in every way and did everything to make them happy," she wrote. "They sat like puppies by the front door waiting for him to come home from work everyday. As for me..there wasn't a day that went by that I didn't feel how much he loves me. Pete showed me everyday in every way. I was so lucky. My heart is broken. I love you more, Pete, forever.”

His viewing and funeral was held on Saturday in Brick.
