From a Distance, Gasoline Used to Light Truck on Fire in Point Pleasant Borough
'Suspicious' Feb. 23 truck fire is still under investigation

Someone stood about 50 feet away from an unoccupied truck in a Bridge Avenue parking lot in Point Pleasant Borough and used gasoline and a match to set it ablaze on Wednesday, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.
Authorities are hoping a resident or passerby saw someone standing a distance from the truck outside Point Pleasant Bicycle and will report the information.
"The fire has been labeled suspicious and is still under investigation," said Deputy Chief Michael Mohel of the prosecutor's office.

No one was injured in the fire that destroyed a 2000 Dodge Dakota, police Capt. Richard Larsen said Thursday.
Police and the Point Pleasant Borough Fire Department were called to the scene at Bridge and Sunset avenues at 4:55 a.m. Wednesday. The fire department quickly extinguished the blaze.

Its owner was in his home nearby, Larsen said.
Police are withholding all names pending the ongoing investigation.
