Jenkinson's To Opt For Wall Rather Than Dune Replenishment, Point Beach Mayor Says
The matter will be discussed at the July 18 Borough Council meeting Mayor Stephen Reid says.

POINT PLEASANT BEACH, NJ - Jenkinson's Pavilion and the state Department of Environmental Protection have come to an agreement whether federal dune replenishment should occur on the beach in front of the pavilion, Point Pleasant Beach Mayor Stephen Reid said.
The agreement would end years of litigation between Jenkinson's and the DEP. Neither Jenkinson's representatives or the DEP would comment on the matter.
“They’re not building a dune, they are going to be building a wall,” Reid told The Ocean Starrecently.

Reid said an NJDEP representative will attend the July 18 borough council meeting to discuss the matter.
The wall will extend from the north end of Jenkinson's Boardwalk to Little Mac's restaurant off Arnold Avenue. A dune system would then be built along the rest of the beachfront, Reid said.

A 2014 lawsuit filed on behalf of Jenkinson’s Pavilion against the state, the borough, the DEP and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers challenged the state’s efforts to use eminent domain to obtain easements on the beachfront necessary for construction of a 14-mile storm protection system across northern Ocean County.
Dune system construction began last month nearby Ortley Beach. It's also scheduled to begin in Mantoloking in late August, and in Lavallette and Brick Township next year.
