John Senter Memorial Plunge In Point Pleasant Raises $50,000 For Camp Moore
Area event will benefit camp for special needs children in Sussex County

POINT PLEASANT — More than 100 people braved the 35-degree waters of the Atlantic Ocean recently to raise money for the 10th annual John Senter Memorial Plunge.
Chances are, they didn't linger in the water too long. But they managed to raise over $50,000 for Camp Moore, a camp nestled in the Ramapo Mountains run by the Elks Association for special needs children, according to the Ocean Star.
“We’re on fire today,” said Barbara McCredie, plunge committee co-chair.

Veteran plunger Peter Smith was the top fundraiser with $8,000.
The New Jersey Elks have raised over $860,000 for Camp Moore over the past decade, said committee co-chair Peggy Berry.

In the past, the Elks have teamed up with other organizations to raise money for multiple charities. But this was the first year the Elks hosted the event on their own.
“We set a $50,000 goal for ourselves for our first time doing it and we exceeded it,” Berry said.
