NJ Weather: Later Snow Updates As Winter Weather Advisory Issued
More snow and ice are expected in NJ on Friday as Gov. Murphy warned the weather is delaying vaccine appointments. Here's what to expect.

NEW JERSEY — More snow is expected on Friday after at least 10 inches of snow fell in another storm that hit New Jersey. Gov. Phil Murphy warned that the weather is causing delays in COVID-19 vaccine appointments (see forecast and snow and ice total estimates below).
A number of issues — including accidents and speed restrictions — were reported on highways and roadways (see list below).
The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory in 21 counties, saying mixed precipitation is expected and additional snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches and ice accumulations of around a tenth of an inch are possible.

Here's what else to expect:
- IMPACTS: Expect slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions will impact the commute times this evening and on Friday morning.
- ADDITIONAL DETAILS: Patchy freezing drizzle, sleet, and snow will continue through the evening hours. Snow, sleet, and rain will then increase Friday around sunrise from the southwest as the next system approaches.
Murphy said the winter weather is causing COVID-19 vaccine "supply chain issues" and that anticipated deliveries will continue to be delayed. Read more: Gov. Murphy Confirms COVID Vaccine Shipment To NJ Delayed
At least two major sites said they've had to delay appointments because of the weather-related delivery delays. Here are two:
- New Bridge Vaccine Appointments Canceled Due To Shipping Delays
- More Appointment Cancellations At 2 Monmouth Co. Vaccine Sites
Murphy said he's working with a "conservative expectation that our anticipated vaccine deliveries will not arrive as scheduled."
"We’re making preparations to use the existing inventory to satisfy current appointments," he said. "However, not all sites may be able to do this. This may result in many appointments needing to be rescheduled."
Four of our six vaccine mega-sites were closed yesterday due to the winter storm, so our vaccine numbers didn’t grow by as much as they otherwise would have. Everyone who had an appointment for yesterday has been rescheduled.

Murphy said everyone who wishes to be vaccinated will be. "With the current national situation, we must be prepared," he said.
