Point Beach Man Indicted on Multiple Charges in Garbage Can Assault

A convicted burglar is being held in Ocean County Jail after authorities said he robbed and assaulted a Point Borough resident.

Anthony Kovolesky III, 41, of Forman Avenue, Point Beach, was indicted last week by an Ocean County grand jury after an alleged Jan. 19 assault that left a man injured.

Kovolesky and Mark Wagner, 49, of New Jersey Avenue, Point Beach, used a knife to threaten a Point Beach man during a theft, the indictment states.

Kovolesky then struck the victim in the head with a garbage can, creating a laceration, authorities said. He also gave false information to Patrolman Andrew Meany in an attempt to hinder his own apprehension, the indictment states.

Wagner was charged with robbery.

Kovolesky was charged with robbery, aggravated assault, hindering apprehension or prosecution, two counts of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon. He also was indicted on a charge of possession by a convicted person, having been convicted of a burglary charge in Ocean County.

Wagner is being held on $50,000 bail, no 10 percent option. Kovolesky is being held on $250,000 bail, no 10 percent option.

Should either man make bail, they are forbidden from having any contact with the alleged victim.

Grand juries also indicted:

• Gail Swayze, 46, of Lakewood on assault and resisting arrest charges.

Swayze was arrested Oct. 7 and accused of resisting Officers Meany and Kyle Grace when they tried to arrest her, the indictment states. She also allegedly struck Meany.

She was released on a summons.

In other indictments, Russell Schoemer, 23, of Point Pleasant was indicted in Monmouth County on one count of theft of movable property. According to the indictment, between January and February of this year, Schoemer is alleged to have copper wiring valued in excess of $500.
