Point Beach Rte. 35 Bridge Lane Closures Continue As End In Sight
The closures continue on the bridge, but the end of the long project is in sight.

POINT PLEASANT BEACH – The end is sight for work on the Route 35 Bridge in Point Pleasant Beach even as the lane closures continue, officials say.
The project to rehabilitate the Route 35 bridge over Ashley Avenue is expected to be completed by Memorial Day, state officials said. The project was supposed to be completed by last summer.
There is one lane open in each direction on the northbound side of the bridge to allow for reconstruction of the southbound bridge deck, according to Steve Shapiro of the state Department of Transportation.

The DOT expects to shift southbound traffic back onto the newly-reconstructed southbound side of the bridge within the next month or so to create a work zone in the center of the roadway, he said.
The $6.3 million dollar federally-funded project involved replacing the deck, parapets, sidewalk, and other improvements to the superstructure, substructure, lighting and approaches to the bridge.
