Point Boro HS Cabaret Canceled as Flooding Rises in Boro, Beach

Reports of flooding on Bridge Avenue and Route 35

 

Point Borough High School canceled its cabaret tonight and Nellie Bennett also canceled its fifth grade talent show tonight as reports increase about flooding on Bridge Avenue and other parts of town.

The high school administration is preparing a Honeywell message to go out by phone to all parents who are registered in the system, said High School Principal Kurt Karcich.

"We canceled because of the flooding on Bridge Avenue and other areas," Karcich said.

In Point Beach, there are reports of flooding on Route 35 in both directions.

Toms River Office of Emergency Management is reporting that Route 37, Windsor Avenue and Vaughn Avenue as well as some other local streets, have also flooded.

Earlier on Friday, Borough Public Works Director Bob Forsyth said workers have been cleaning out storm drains in low-lying areas that typically flood and that barricades are available if needed.
