Point Pleasant Beach: Man Banged On Banks, 'Screamed' He Had Gun
A 37-year-old man was arrested this weekend near the Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk after banging on bank windows, police said.

POINT PLEASANT BEACH. – A 37-year-old man was arrested this weekend near the Point Pleasant Beach boardwalk after banging on bank windows and screaming that he had a gun, police said.
The incident happened on Friday at approximately 3:34 p.m. when Point Pleasant Beach police received a phone call from the South Whitehall Police Department in Pennsylvania regarding a man who caused a disturbance at several banks, police said.
Jose Gabriel Vega of Schnecksville, Pa. went to multiple banks that were closed to the public and began banging on the windows and screaming that he had a gun, police said.

Officers from Pennsylvania responded, but Vega fled the area in his vehicle, police said.
Vega then traveled to Point Pleasant Beach and apparently went to the northern end of the boardwalk, police said. Point Beach officers responded and located Vega in his vehicle. Vega then ran from officers to the beachfront and entered the water, police said.

Vega was apprehended and placed under arrest by officers on scene. A weapon was not found in his possession, police said.
Vega was charged with obstructing and eluding and was lodged in the Ocean County Jail.
