Point Pleasant Blizzard Warning: Move Vehicles Off Streets
Point Pleasant officials say Department of Public Works crews are ready; police remind there are several "no parking" streets in a storm.

POINT PLEASANT, NJ — With a blizzard warning in effect for Ocean County and forecasters predicting up to 18 inches of snow and strong winds, Point Pleasant officials have issued several reminders to residents ahead of the storm.
A blizzard warning is in effect for Ocean County from 7 p.m. Friday through 7 p.m. Saturday, with a potential for 12 to 18 inches of snow and winds gusting as high as 50 mph. In addition, coastal flooding is anticipated in areas that flood often during the hours before and after high tide Saturday morning.
Gov. Phil Murphy has declared a state of emergency that took effect at 5 p.m. Friday.

Point Pleasant police are urging residents to avoid driving and make sure they clear vehicles and basketball hoops off the roads to allow for more efficient plowing.
"This allows our DPW to plow the roads properly and without having to navigate around parked snow-covered vehicles," police said.

In addition, the police department reminded residents that there is a lengthy list of streets that are designated as no parking in an event such as the impending snowstorm. The list can be found here.
"Travel could be very difficult to impossible," the National Weather Service said, as wind whips the snow, which could significantly reduce visibility. The winds also could bring down tree branches.
For waterfront areas, coastal flooding of up to a half-foot of water above ground level is anticipated for the low-lying areas near shorelines around the time of high tide Saturday morning.
