Point Pleasant Boro Schools Cancel Afterschool Activities Due to Storm
Point Pleasant Borough police are urging residents to move vehicles from flood-prone areas to higher ground.

POINT PLEASANT, NJ — The Point Pleasant Boro School District has canceled all afterschool activities taking place after 5 p.m. Tuesday.
District officials announced the cancellations, which are due to the expected storm and the state of emergency that takes effect at 5 p.m.
Aftercare for Point Pleasant students is not affected, officials said.

Among the canceled activities is the sixth grade band concert and the parent-teacher organization meetings at Nellie Bennett and Ocean Road schools.
Gov. Phil Murphy announced the state of emergency in response to the strong winter storm moving into the area that is expected to bring sustained winds of 35 to 45 mph and 65-mph gusts.

In addition to the activities cancellation, the Point Pleasant Police Department is urging residents in areas prone to flooding to move their vehicles to higher ground.
The high winds may bring down power lines, and Point Pleasant police say residents should call Jersey Central Power & Light at 800-662-3115.
"Do not call 911 for power outages info," police said.
