Point Pleasant Borough Flushing Hydrants through End of April
Public Works says don't do laundry during day

If you noticed your water is yellow or brown lately, that's because the borough just started hydrant flushing.
Flushing will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday through the end of April.
Municipal public works crews work in different parts of the borough in phases, so different neighborhoods are done on different days.

"This is a necessary and required function to maintain our overall water system and quality," say Public Works officials on the borough web site. "We appreciate your patience."
The process means residents will have or yellowish or brownish water during the flushing, and are urged not to do laundry during that time.

If you do laundry and find it has yellow or brown streaks or stains, call public works for a complimentary container of Red-B-Gone, which removes rust and iron from white clothes.
It's also safe to use on some colored clothes, but directions urge users to test a hidden part of the garment first.
