Point Pleasant Halloween Parade Canceled Due To Expected Storm

Point Pleasant Cancels Halloween Parade Slated For Sunday

POINT PLEASANT, NJ - The Point Pleasant Pleasant Chamber of Commerce has canceled the 2017 parade slated for Sunday because of a predicted storm that poses a "tropical threat," Accuweather says.

"The parade is canceled for Sunday," according to the Chamber's Facebook page. Thank you to the many participants who registered and the businesses for sponsoring. We will see you next year."

A storm posing a "tropical threat" will bring the potential for flooding and damaging winds to New Jersey on Sunday and Monday, forecasters say. Sunny skies, however, are expected for Halloween, Accuweather says.

An area of showers and thunderstorms continued to gather from the tropics and will move north, according to AccuWeather. Wind gusts could move as fast as 40 to 75 mph.

Wind could bring down tree limbs, topple weakly rooted trees and lead to power outages. The storm could resemble a nor'easter, forecasters say, with tropical storm characteristics.
