We asked Patch readers what they thought the biggest safety issues were in their town. Here’s a list of the most pressing problems, from break-ins to traffic jams:

  • "Lack of sidewalks and no enforcement of speed on local, neighborhood streets."
  • "Bicycle riders. They do not follow the laws, they are dressed in black at night, they ride in the road towards traffic instead of with traffic, they are careless, they are texting or using their cell phones while moving; they are hazardous."
  • "Dangerous sections of Bridge Ave and 88 with long stretches of driveways backing into traffic, and those two roads having poor sidewalk connectivity."
  • "The high schools need busing . No safe sidewalks for students to walk home . Not every parent can pick students everyday."
  • "Lack of police at night."
  • "Bicyclists not following the rules of the road and J-walkers not crossing at designated crosswalks."
  • "People still don't stop for pedestrians in crosswalks. Some more sidewalks would be nice too."
  • "Lack of enforcement of speed limit on Herbertsville Road. There have been deaths on this street and there needs to be enforcement."
  • "Drivers using cell phones and texting."
  • "Heroin"
